Position: Sports Editor
Hometown: Washington, D.C.
College: Georgetown
First job in journalism: News Aide at The Washington Post
At Washington Post since: 1990 (God I’m old)
Favorite Sport: Pro Football (What else is there, really?)
Favorite Athlete: Emmitt Smith
Favorite Team: America’s Team
Favorite Writer (Other than Tom Boswell): Confucius, but Boz is a close second.
Favorite Moment at Post: Jan. 2, 1994: With a severely separated shoulder, Emmitt Smith rushes for 168 yards against the Giants on the road in one of the most courageous performances in sports history. Cowboys win, 16-13, in overtime to secure home-field throughout the playoffs. I was there to cover it. Oh, and so was Michael Wilbon.
Favorite Moment on WPL: 1. Ivan Carter losing a bet on the Vikings-Cowboys game and having to wear an Emmitt Smith jersey on air. 2. Calling my shot: Patriots going undefeated in 2007-08
