Position: Deputy Sports Editor
Hometown: Cape Girardeau, Mo.
College: Southeast Missouri
First job in journalism: The Kansas City Star
At Washington Post since: 2000
Favorite Sport: I define "favorite" as "one I would watch on my day off" and I suppose that would have to be football. But, really, I'm not picky; I brake for all things sports.
Favorite Athlete: Lou Gehrig
Favorite Team: St. Louis Cardinals (bb); KC Chiefs (fb). Those were my childhood favorites. My philosophy on "favorite team" is rooting for whichever one seems to 1) annoy my co-workers most, 2) is about to catch fire and being the first to spot that (as Mike Lupica says, "nobody front-runs better than you do." I take that as a compliment. Wait, maybe he didn't mean it that way...I'm going to kill him. Be right back.)
Favorite Writer (Other than Tom Boswell): I adore Dana Milbank, but he's no Tom Boswell.
Favorite Moment at Post: When Kornheiser asked me to sew a button on his jacket and I threatened to sue him for sexual harrassment. Good times.
Favorite Moment on WPL: Driving by the Verizon Center and seeing Jason La Canfora in Jumbo-Vision. I think ours is a staff made for Jumbo-Vision.
