>Week 11: Moving Forward
Redskins looked like a football team in their win against the Broncos and if the defense can play the same way they did in the second half, then the Burgundy and Gold has a chance to contain the Cowboys.  The offense has improved since halftime of the Falcons game, Jason Campbell and Ladell Betts should have the confidence moving forward against an average Cowboys defense.

>Today on Redskins Nation:
Vinny Cerrato is on the program to reiterate that Jim Zorn will be the Redskins coach the remainder of the season.  (good to hear in my opinion)  He also chats about Dan Snyder and his willingness to win and the team's current struggles as a whole.  Can't miss interview.  And it's another Cropp Metcalfe Fan Friendly Friday, a bevy of your questions and comments are addressed on the show.

Don't blog much, do you?
Only after Vinny makes a good decision?

Dissapointed? Sure. Hopeful? Always.
Of all times, now is the time to keep our heads on our shoulders. It's not time to hit the panic button. It's not time to freak out and fire Coach Zorn. I understand that our team hurt our feelings last night. That performance has left me with scars that won't heal for months. But I'm calling on my fellow fans to stay positive. I'm not saying that you have to and i'm not saying that you should. What I am saying is that staying positive can help our team. And as for the team themselves? They need to spend all of their frustration today. That's all the time they are alloted to get over themselves and the loss. That's all the time they have to sulk over what went wrong, because tommorow, when they get back at it, they need to solve the small, large, or gigantic problems that are ailing them on the football field. They, in my opinion, need to put their heads down and square up their shoulders and prepare for what lies ahead. Work on making the small positives bigger, and the large problems there may be smaller. They need to pull together and practice, play, and produce. This can not be accompished by giving in to the negativity that everyone is generating around here. We need to pull together, fans and players and coaches alike, and get ourselves out of this. I believe, no, I KNOW that we can win with the personnel we have now. We just have to concentrate and play. And win. Sorry for the rant. Hail to our Redskins.

What More Could Zorn Ask For?
Bet you Zorn feels a lot better now. Having Vinny on his side probably makes him feel like Chuck Norris has his back! It's all good, these guys love each other! (Watch out Zorn - Vinny and Danny have been known to sue grandma's who have been customers for 40 years. Watch your back!)

>Today on Redskins Nation:
It's with my pleasure to announce, Redskins legend Brian Mitchell will be on the show tonight.  The former stud kick returner/punt returner/running back/emergency quarterback will be inducted into the Redskins Ring of Fame on Monday night vs. Eagles.  Mitchell, a CSN analyst for Redskins Kickoff and Redskins Post Game Live, is one to never shy away from speaking his mind.  Not now.  And definitely not back in the day on the football field (I can remember after every return, as the TV cameras went to commercial break, B-Mitch would be on the opposing sidelines talking).  I think this current group of Redskins could use some of that tough guy attitude.  I'm not just saying that because B-Mitch is my favorite all-time 'Skin, but because it's something I think the team is lacking sans a few of the leaders (Fletcher, Moss, etc).

Also, Doc Walker makes his weekly appearance in a can't miss interview where he talks about the new play-calling system, Jason Campbell and the Eagles.

Plus, as always, we take your fan questions.

>Week 6: Looking Back:
I was wrong.  I truly thought this team would bounce back this week, put some points on the board, but I was totally wrong.  Again, they had opportunity after opportunity, and they couldn't capitalize on any of them.  As a fan of this franchise since I was born in 1983, I don't recall many low's like this.  Hopefully, something can happen to turn it around ... and do so ... FAST!

And Lawliet From London, I have no idea why that word isn't allowed, very interesting.  I'll pass it along to our internet staff.

Thanks for watching ... again thanks for all the comments/questions/e-mails (both positive and negative),
Doug

SAME OLD CRAP
Is this the bast the Redskins can do after a bye? They might just be the worst team in the league. They may NOT win another game this year. Anytime a defense can sack your QB with a 3 man rush, game over! This is pathetic!

No O-Line
Until the Redskins address the serious problems with their O-line, we go NOWHERE! Tom Brady wouldn't be affective in this system with this O-line. JC is running for his life after 2.0 seconds. No O-line

>Week 6: Moving Forward:
As I mentioned earlier this week, it's time to find out whether or not this Redskins team is a good football club or not.  A 2-3 record isn't terrible, but it's not great and if this team is as capable of playing as I think they are, they should be 4-1 instead.  Let's leave the past in the past and move forward to this week.  I think Redskins make a statement and make a big one.

Note to Doug
A question to Doug, preferably to be answered on this blog. Why is the word C I R C U M S T A N C E S being blocked as Offensive content? Or is that a glitch?
Posted by Lawliet From London at 10:59 pm Oct 20, 2009
I'm STILL positive. No matter what.
Larry, no question today. Just a comment. I am sure we are headed in the right direction. I absolutely believe with all of my being that we are at a turning point. And a positive turn at that. I don't have any solid evidence. I don't have any good reason. All I have is my appreciation for this team, and a resolve to never, for any reason, give in to contempt towards my team. I absolutly, to the core, refuse to say we are a losing football team. Congrats if you agree. And congrats if you disagree. But I GUARENTEE, wrong or right, that we are a winning team. No questions. Hail to the Redskins

Reflection of Offense and Special Teams
I am not a head coach; therefore I will not pretend that I know it all, because I don't. Rather, I want to discuss some things I have noticed. 1) The O-Line needs help badly. Without a healthy O-line, the quarterback cannot be successful. 2) Jason Campbell is receiving so much of the blame, but he was not fully equipped to be successful. It was completely obvious that the O-line needed improvement. Instead, the O-line for the most part was neglected during the off-season, and now we are suffering for it. 3) Jason is limited in his weapons. Portis is a threat, but when the run game doesn't work, Jason has to throw. Moss is a threat. However, opponents know they can't leave him open or he will most likely take it to the house. Therefore, they double team him. This is a problem for Jason because he doesn't have another person to go to downfield. Devin Thomas is promising and I hope and believe will become more productive as the season progresses. However, he is still not yet considered a threat; therefore Moss still gets double teamed. If both of them become threats, then we can really become lethal offensively because of our other two threats, Cooley and Randel El. This will open up Jason's options. 4) Special Teams: It may be beneficial to the team to let Thomas return punts occasionally in a game. The offense needs as much help as possible. Right now the offense is not getting a boost from the punt returns. 5) Conclusion: Campbell tries to be loyal to his receivers by giving them as much time as necessary to get open. However, after being benched and after the fire he's been catching, if they're not open, then he needs to take off. I hope being benched only adds fire to him and his game playing. Moreover, it's time to activate Marko Mitchell and see what he can do. If he indeed becomes a playmaker, then maybe the offense can turn this thing around. Go skins!!

Management Loyalty
Hello Larry! Today it was announced that the Redskins’ Organization attempted to hire Shanahan as a head coach. This comes a day after Zorn was told by Cerrito that he wants him to succeed. Therefore, he relinquished him of his duties as a play caller to relieve him of handling excessive duties. This same thing happened to Jason Campbell during the off-season and now it is happening to Zorn. I know this is a business, but why is our upper management so underhanded? Why not just be open and honest with people? Why tell someone that you want them to succeed as head coach while simultaneously seeking a head coach to replace him? Furthermore, think about the embarrassment it causes that individual. They have to hear from the media that their team is trying to replace them.

Dysfunctional Mess
Hey Larry, The skins are the joke of the NFL. How about holding management and Danny Boy responsible. The skins can fire the coach and staff, move other players in here and do whatever they want but nothing is going to change until a new approach and philosphy is found. Danny Boy should stay out of football opererations and hire a real GM. If Vinny Cerato is still the GM next year, i'm done as a redskins fan. He just said that Samuels injury is mental. Is he really that clueless???? Samuels is facing a possible career ending injury and our GM says it is mental. What a clown. It is a three ring circus over there at Redskins Park. It might transfer well in Marketing but it surely does not transfer to an NFL team. I love the skins and hate what Dan Snyder has done to the Redskins.

Wake Up Peter Pan
Stay Positive, you are clueless. It is the players. If it weren't the players, the skins would be 5-1 or 4-2. You didn't mention the offensive line. They are the biggest joke of an offensive line in the NFL. Everyone said it was the o-lines fault last year that they went 2-6 down the stretch. So what did the skins do? They paid 100 Million to one guy and didn't address the line at all. Perhaps it was because they couldn't after restructing 3 of the 5 offensive lineman's contract. The approach and philosophy of vinnine and danny boy does not work. They are the biggest bunch of clowns in the NFL and that includes Al Davis and the raider. And while we are at it, you are wrong about Sherm Lewis. He has been out of the league for 5 years and wasn't that well respected as a play caller when he did it for one year. Get rid of Vinny and then maybe we will all get lucky and have Danny Boy sell the team.

Stay Positive
Hey Larry. Our defense is great. Special Teams are good. But I don't know what on Gods green earth is wrong with our offense. I know it's not the players. Cooley, Moss, Randle El, Portis, and Sellers are playmakers. The others are solid. In my opinion, it's the scheme. The scheme doesn't have any creativity. I understand that you need to stick to your gameplan, but sticking to it if it's being defended well is a bad idea. It won't hurt to switch up and go against your normal logic. That's what some of the BEST minds in football do. My question is: Do you think Sherm Lewis will fix our offense this week? I do. Sometimes it just makes players play looser (and better) if there are changes in the chain of command. I think the change at play-caller is the change we needed. Hail to the Redskins!

Winds of Change
Larry, AKA Vinnys female dog. Your show is so bias it stinks. You never ask the tougth questions! Why not? The writing is on the wall Zorn is gone and so is Campbell. I’m just perplexed as to why Zorn has backed Campbell without even giving another QB a shot. I promise you it will be his undoing! The problem has always been Campbell. If he was more decisive and got rid of the ball quicker teams may be less likely to rush. And why not rush him any defensive coordinator worth his salt knows that he can’t beat you. I truly hope management cans Zorn at the bye week and we get a look a Collins. Furthermore yes I’m a hater and I’m proud of it. Maybe if you had some backbone you would recognize the same thing that the majority of America does. No Guts no Glory If you can’t report the truth please step aside!

Week 5: Looking Back

>Today on Redskins Nation:
Doc Walker joined us in the first segment to take a quick look back at the disappointing loss to the Panthers and what's in store for Week 6 vs. Chiefs.  We'll also hear from Jason Campbell as he gives us the temperature of the team.  Plus, your fan questions with Larry Weisman and Matt Terl.

>Looking Back: Week 5:
Just a terrible loss, no way of sugar coating it.  The Redskins had the Panthers right where they wanted them and they blew it.  It's a loss that can certainly keep a team down for an extended period of time; we'll see if the Redskins can respond.

Watching that game, the team played in spurts of high and low.  One possession, the offense was driving the field, Jason Campbell wasn't missing a target, the offensive line was giving out good blocks and Clinton Portis was hitting holes.  Next one, just a disaster.  On defense, they pressured Jake Delhomme, they forced the Panthers to settle for short passing plays ... and then boom the running game would open up or Steve Smith would get wide open.

Good teams don't let that happen.  Good teams don't lose to the Panthers.  And good teams sure as hell don't lose to the Chiefs.  We'll see how good of a team the Redskins are this weekend (more on that later in the week).

>RN E-mails/Questions/Comments:
Thank you all for the e-mails and the questions via the comments section below.  We've been getting a lot of them recently asking why their e-mail hadn't been picked to read on-air.  You have to understand we get anywhere from 30-100 e-mails a day, sometimes more, depending on what's going on with the team.  We take all of them - the positive and negative ones alike - and try our best to get them on air.

Word to the wise: the shorter the e-mail, the better.  I can't tell you how many great questions and comments we've had in the past, but coming from the one who handles the account and this blog, the shorter the question/comment ... the better chance it has of getting read on the air.

And please no e-mails with inappropriate language.

Thank you for all your interaction.  As Redskins fans, I guess you can say we're in this together.

Thanks for watching and stay tuned,
Doug

When hated, don't give in to hate
I am sick of all of the negativity. I hear that taking only the positives from a poor performance is a "losing attitude." That makes perfect sense from one perspective. But i'll be a monkeys uncle before I say that it's the cold hard truth. There is no truth in a fans comments. Just opinion. And my opinion is that we FANS should take a positive. We fans are not the team. We are FANS. There is no harm or foul in cheering for the team you say you love. I agree that the team should not take JUST the positives. They need to take the good AND the bad. They need to work on some things. Maybe ALOT of things. But for them to take JUST the negatives would be a losing attitude as well. The fans should take the good and run with it, may it be a Superbowl victory, or a touchdown in a game we've already lost. We can be an asset. We don't have to be a liability. Hail to the Redskins.

A Few Questions
In case you don't get to my e-mail, or I fail to catch the show: Do you think Mr $ndyer will do the right thing for the community and $ell the $kin$? If not, do you think he might fire Vinny, consult a panel of impartial, outside, experts, find a bright young GM, and give him complete control over drafting, free agency, and hiring a good coaching staff? Do you think he will stop $uing fan$? Do you think he will improve the game day experience, by running a shuttle bus from the finest rail transportation system in the world to the $tadium? (And give up some parking $$$$?) Will he allow the fans to express themselves? (Paper bags are a tradition in other cities, not a "security risk".) Do you think he'll create ticket plans so that average fans can get to see one or two games per year? Do you think he will stop deceptive promotions, such as "win free tickets to the KC game" (by signing up for the so-called season ticket waiting list)? Does Mr. Snyder understand that the fans are in revolt? http://buyoutsnyder.com/ http://burgundyrevolution.com/ http://fanexodus.com/ http://snydersucks.org/ Has he read the postings at these sites? Does he know that these are 30 year plus Redskin fans? Does he know that this "tough love" is for his own good in the long run? Do you know that your happy talk does not wash with long-time fans? How bout that O-line? Thanks, Vinny! Anyone else remember the Hogs???
