Keys To A Win Tonight Over Miami
Last night the Wizards got out to an 18 point lead against the Cavaliers but were unable to maintain that advantage as the game went on. The same exact thing happened to the Wizards in Atlanta, they got off to hot start only to falter later. The Wizards have looked great in spurts thus far but in the two losses they haven’t been able to maintain those hot starts. Against Miami they will need to put together a complete (48 minutes) game.
Less than 24 hours after facing reigning league MVP LeBron James, the Wizards will welcome fellow Redeem Teamer Dwayne Wade to the Verizon Center. Last season Wade won his first scoring title and finished third in MVP voting. Caron Butler will once again have his hands full trying to contain another dynamic wing player. Coming off the tail end of a back-to-back expect DeShawn Stevenson to get a lot of minutes tonight against Wade.
Against Cleveland the Wizards’ bigs got in early foul trouble and it caused a downward spiral for the entire team. Shaquille O’Neal was able to dominate the paint and that opened up the floodgates for three point shooters to get open looks. Wade averaged 10 free throw attempts in the four meetings between the teams last year. So far Quentin Richardson has been a good pick up for the Heat and the Wizards can ill-afford to let him get open looks off of penetration by Wade.
