Welcome to our new golf blog. This will be a year-round extravaganza for all you golf fanatics. And if you're not a fanatic maybe we can turn you into one.

The sudden chill in the air pretty much marks the end of golf season in these parts but if you're like me you still have a glimmer of hope and have your clubs in the trunk just in case it warms up a little bit. Anything over 50 degrees and I'm ready to go.

This was a very exciting week for us at Comcast SportsNet as we aired our one-on-one interview with the greatest golfer of all-time Jack Nicklaus and Washington Post Live host Ivan Carter. And yes folks, Jack is the GOAT (greatest of all time) until Tiger Woods breaks his record of 18 professional majors.

The interview capped off a great golf year for us at CSN: we featured Chick Hernandez one-on-one interview with Tiger in Las Vegas in our first episode of Tee Time in June then hosted a great week of golf at the AT&T National with a couple of visits from the tournament host and eventual winner. We're sorry the tournament is moving to Philly for a couple of years but we'll still be there to bring you coverage.

Good news: barring the unforeseen, Tee Time presented by Geico will return for it's third season next year. It's no Entourage but we like it.

Some random thoughts from the last few weeks in the golf world:

-Tiger (5-0)  and Phil (4-0-1) were spectacular at Harding Park in San Francisco last week leading the U.S. to victory but even I could not get fired up for the Presidents Cup this year. The Ryder Cup is far superior but I do enjoy it when they play the Presidents Cup at RTJ in Lake Manassas.

-The Nationwide Tour's Melwood Prince George's County Open is moving to the newly renovated University of Maryland golf course next year. Woodmore in Mitchellville was a great venue but most agree Maryland has a better infrastructure to host a tournament.

-Golf in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio: a great idea. Tiger will be going for the gold at the age of 40. That will be neat to watch.

-2010 will be the year Michelle Wie finally realizes her great potential or else. The LPGA desperately needs Wie to be great to gain relevance. No pressure there Michelle.

-The Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship, the final major of the year on the Champions Tour, didn't get much attention because it's played during football season but Jay Haas' final round 64 at Five Farms in Timonium was one of the greatest ever rounds on the old guys' tour. He made up a 4 stroke lead on third round leader Tom Watson.

-Speaking of Old Tom (who just turned 60) I am still not over him not winning the British Open at Turnberry. It would have been the greatest golf story ever told.

-This is not the TMZ or Entertainment Tonight website but it was sad to hear that Greg Norman and Chris Evert split up a couple of weeks ago. Norman is known as golf's greatest hard luck loser of all-time but people forget just how great a golfer he was. The Shark was the best driver of a golf ball (distance and accuracy) I have ever seen.

-There's only 6 months until the Masters. I can't wait.

-And only 20 months until the 2011 U.S. Open at Congressional. Could Tiger tie or break Jack's record then?
