Bethesda, MD – Comcast SportsNet and the Washington Wizards are pleased to announce their comprehensive television broadcast schedule for 2009-10, which includes 81 games, 52 of which will be covered in HDTV.  In addition to 81 regular season games, Comcast SportsNet will televise three Wizards preseason games beginning on October 9.

Coverage plans include 66 games on Comcast SportsNet and 14 games on CSN+.  CSN+ is available to all cable and satellite carriers throughout the Comcast SportsNet viewing area.  The channel position for CSN+ varies by provider, but all channels are listed on www.csnwashington.com. One game will be carried on The Comcast Network, which is also available to cable and satellite providers in the area.

“We are thrilled to further our longstanding partnership with the Washington Wizards and broadcast their games and the most comprehensive Wizards news and analysis to fans throughout the region,” said Comcast SportsNet Senior Vice President and General Manager Rebecca Schulte.  “As we enter the new season, Comcast SportsNet viewers will see an extensive lineup of high definition games, breaking news, and expert in-game and post-game analysis.”

The 2009-10 Wizards season on Comcast SportsNet begins with the regular season road opener on Tuesday, October 27 at 8:30 PM, when the Wizards travel to Dallas to take on the Mavericks.  Comcast SportsNet will air its first Wizards home telecast on Saturday, October 31 at 7:00 PM as they face the New Jersey Nets live from Verizon Center.  The Wizards regular season schedule on Comcast SportsNet also features a mid-December road match-up against Kobe Bryant and the NBA Champion L.A. Lakers, a pair of games against LeBron James, Shaquille O’Neal, and the Cleveland Cavaliers, four games against the Eastern Conference Champion Orlando Magic, and two match-ups against the Philadelphia 76ers and former Wizards Head Coach Eddie Jordan (see attached for the complete broadcast schedule).

Returning this season to broadcast the games are former Washington Bullet and NBA great Phil Chenier who will handle color analysis, and Emmy Award-Winning broadcaster Steve Buckhantz, who will provide play-by-play.  The Comcast SportsNet broadcast team will be rounded out with Chris Miller, who will handle sideline reporting during home games.  Following game broadcasts, Comcast SportsNet will air Wizards Postgame Live, hosted by Miller with former NBA scout Ron Thompson, delivering expert analysis and insight, postgame commentary and insider access to players, coaches, and other team personnel.

“Once again, Wizards fans will have the opportunity to get the best local Wizards coverage on Comcast SportsNet,” said Wizards Executive Vice President Matt Williams. “We’re proud of our long-standing relationship with Comcast SportsNet and with the outstanding job that Steve Buckhantz, Phil Chenier and the entire Comcast SportsNet crew do every night during the NBA season.”
