Bethesda, MD (April 27, 2009) – Comcast SportsNet, the leader in local sports television, and GEICO, the fastest-growing major auto insurer in the country, announce today the launch of GEICO SportsNite at 6:30 p.m., 10 p.m., 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. The multi-year partnership gives GEICO, which has a longstanding relationship with Comcast SportsNet, the title sponsorship of the network’s award-winning nightly news program.

Comcast SportsNet launched SportsNite upon the inception of the network on April 4, 2001. In the past eight years, the nightly sports news show has won numerous Emmy awards for its extensive features and credible reporting. The 30-minute program focuses on the Mid-Atlantic Region’s professional and collegiate teams, athletes, and coaches, providing viewers with the type of in-depth features, investigative reports, and exclusive interviews they can’t find anywhere else.
