• April 13, 2009: CSN Provides Wall-To-Wall Caps Playoff Coverage With Live Games In High-Def And Complete Postgame Shows

Bethesda, MD (April 13, 2009) – Comcast SportsNet, the leader in local sports television, will continue to give viewers the region’s most comprehensive coverage of Alex Ovechkin and the record-setting Washington Capitals – who finished the 2009 regular season with the most points in franchise history. The network’s live coverage of the second-seeded Capitals begins Wednesday with Game 1 against the New York Rangers live in high-definition on Comcast SportsNet, followed by Capitals Postgame Live. The network will be the exclusive carrier of Games 1, 3, 4, 5 and 7 throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

Throughout the past two seasons, the back-to-back Southeast Division Champions have set countless records with their television ratings on Comcast SportsNet. This year, Comcast SportsNet posted the highest Capitals regular-season average in the history of the network. The 1.1 rating, which is equivalent to more than 25,000 households in Washington, D.C., is a 65% increase over last season, building on the 75% year-over-year increase Comcast SportsNet saw in its Capitals regular season ratings from 2006-07 to 2007-08.

Last year’s seven-game Stanley Cup playoff series against the Philadelphia Flyers saw similar record-setting numbers. More than 80,000 households tuned in, on average, for the 2008 Capitals first-round series.

Throughout the playoffs, each game on Comcast SportsNet will be broadcast in stunning high definition and the network will air Capitals Postgame Live immediately following each matchup, regardless of the network carrying the game broadcast. During Postgame Live, Lisa Hillary will be on site with the team and Al Koken will be back in studio to provide fans with live interviews, postgame press conferences, features and analysis. Comcast SportsNet’s Joe Beninati and Craig Laughlin anchor each broadcast. Game previews will also be available at www.comcastsportsnet.tv, keyword Caps.

Below is a schedule of Comcast SportsNet’s first-round coverage of the NHL playoffs. All games will be carried in high definition.
