Should have let Arenas go
by Nightman On Wed 11/26/08 8:07pm
The Wizards should have let Gilbert Areanas go.  Since he has had 3 surgeries on his knee, he seems to be damaged goods.  I would have let Gil go and sign a couple of mid level players to fill in some holes in the roster caused by injuries to Bredan Heywood for example.  Owner Abe Pollin's problem is that he holds on to players too long, Abe ought to sell the rest of the team to Ted Leonsis and concentrate on his health.  Pehaps Ted could fix the Wizards like he did with the Caps.

Arenas did have three surgeries and i too wanted arenas to be let go, but the rest of the team is fine, its just the wizards need another finisher, letting go of Roger Mason and AD was a big no-no from the begining and i knew it. When Arenas came back and played a little near the end of the 08 season i had new hopes for arenas and thought wow, he is not even fully healed and hes still dropping bombs and i was very excited and sure the wizards would be great again when the wizards said gil would be back in Feb fully healed and now we are still waiting, that was the last straw, wizards had made a big mistake resigning gilbert and a SUPER HUGE mistake signing a max contract, this means we basically cant get rid of gil and will barely have any cap space for any1 else. the only way gilbert arenas can win back my trust or any other smart fan heart back is by pulling a 'wade' and returning averaging atleast 27 ppg and not pull a 'grant hill' and become washed up

Arenas was such a mistake. How can you give a max contract to an injury prone player? The sixers did the same thing with Elton Brand and they too are paying the price. So much for the offseason in 2010 which everyone is excited about. Only money we'll have that offseason is to sign another hot dog vendor
