So here I am last week at the 80th birthday party for Comcast SportsNet exec Andy Ockershausen. If you fit in my target demographic, maybe you've never heard of him, but you should have. Len Shapiro dubbed him CSN's "Head Schmoozer and Beloved Semi-Elder Statesman," George Solomon said Andy O, "as GM of WMAL-AM, set a record for firing the same two people in one decade when he canned Andrew Beyer and me seven times from our radio show," and Thom Loverro called him "one of the legendary figures in sports and media in Washington," but because I'm young and stupid and relatively new to D.C., I didn't really know much about his career. Coleman and Waner Hope To Put On Quite a Show

Coleman, a communications major, is finished with classes; she is spending this semester interning at Comcast SportsNet in Bethesda. She tries to make it out to the studio at least three times a week, and spent six hours there this past Monday, one day after she scored a team-high 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a 67-47 win over Rutgers. CSN Profiles Leonsis' Ownership Of Caps, Other Ventures

CSN Mid-Atlantic last night featured Capitals Owner TED LEONSIS in the show, "My Life 365: Ted Leonsis," and chronicled his various business endeavors, including his ownership of the Capitals. Leonsis said, "The role that I would like to play is that I’ve taken a team and given it back to the fans. … Fans have the right to be very demanding of ownership. We are in this together." Leonsis added, "I do believe in this collective wisdom of crowds and the medium is such, speaking of the Internet, that you can process a lot of information very efficiently by listening to fans, reading blogs, going on the message boards." Stars Align at DCSportsFan Football Banquet

The Second Annual All-DCSportsFan.com Football Celebration Dinner was held this past weekend at George Mason University, and Virginia Tech's Frank Beamer, former Hokie running back Mike Imoh, Comcast SportsNet's Chick Hernandez and former and current Redskins Brian Mitchell and Fred Smoot were in attendance. Over 60 of the best football players in the WCAC, IAC, MAC and DCIAA were honored for their outstanding performance on the field and in the classroom, but a few select individuals stood out.
